Essential Software
- The njTBX toolbox provided by Richard Signell was vital for incorporating multiple models easily into the Cartographic planner. It provided a common, easy interface to different data formatting conventions expressed through the OpenDAP protocol, so that a single codebase could switch easily between models of different representations. The JPL Modeling team provided a common grid representation for these models with a local mirror of their data; this was also quite helpful.
- Google Earth Visualizing plans, reachability envelopes, Rutgers glider fleet data, and overlay images in the same interface proved invaluable for effective and fast planning. In particular, viewing Rutgers data products and fleet status within the JPL planning environment served as a key validation of the planning software and an effective visual summary of the plan for remote scientists.
