The OOI program is managed through the OOI Program Office housed within the Consortium for Ocean Leadership in Washington, D.C. Ocean Leadership is a not-for-profit corporation of member institutions including universities or other nonprofit institutions, organizations, or governmental entities involved in oceanographic sciences or related fields and that are organized for educational or scientific purposes. Ocean Leadership has contracted with five Implementing Organizations (IOs) for the development, construction, and operation of the OOI.
